Akoya
Cultured pearls grown in pearl oysters off the coast of Japan. These pearls are known for their lovely orient and warm colour. Rarely grow more than 9mm in size.

Mabe
Large hemispherical shape cultured pearls are grown against the inside shells of oysters instead of within the body.

 Fresh Water Pearls
Cultivated in molluscs, not oysters, found in fresh water rivers and lakes.

Keshi
Seedless pearls which form naturally in many cultured pearl oysters in both Akoya and South Sea pearls. Come in many colours, shapes and sizes.

South Sea Pearls
Australian - Found in warm waters off the Australian coast, grown in large oysters called Pinctada Maxima. Large cultured pearls are generally rare and valuable measuring in size 10mm and up.

Indonesian - Found off the islands of French Polynesia, grown in large oysters called Pinctada Mararitifera - Black Lipped. Large cultured pearls are generally rare and valuable measuring 10mm and up. Colours range from soft grey to black hues of red, blues and greens.
